Awesome on Power Amps (4/19/2014)
I originally purchased this cable from the UK around the time it was released. I'm happy to see it now on TFA at a substantially lower price that I paid for it. The Alpha 3 is a tonally even, smooth sounding cable. It is on the warm side, but is not rolled off top or bottom. It's mid-range is perhaps the best attribute. Compared to the Neotech NEP-3200 the Alpha 3 is smoother, with a relaxed sound. The NEP-3200 has more resolution, extension, and soundstage. However, the Alpha 3 has more "magic" in the mid's and works on anything. It's the easiest cable of come across in terms of simply plugging it into equipment and enjoying the music. Paired with Furutech FI-11's I think this is a better cable than Cardas GR and the ESP Reference. Use FI-11 Gold for a smooth warm sound, with bold bass. Rhodium for better imaging, and details in the highs. The cable sounds incredible with Oyaide 079's as well. I do own a $2000 Purist Audio Canorus power cord which I use to feed my power distributor (runs between an Audience aR2p-TO and RSA Haley). The Alpha 3 will provide about 40% of the performance at 10% of the price (with connectors). Sound qualities are similar, but to a lessor extent. Replacing the Alpha 3 with "better" on my amp is no easy chore. I believe I'll have to buy another Canorus or Lessloss Signature to get a better cable with similar sound characteristics. That's quite expensive and the Alpha 3 is very synergistic with my amp. For digital, I do like the NEP-3200 more. However, if you have any brightness issues, you'll likely prefer the Alpha 3.
